As one of the pioneers of the new apprenticeship standards, we’re passionate about upskilling existing members of Yorkshire’s workforce to help bridge the digital skills shortage as well as training new recruits.

Meet The Think Employment Team

Richard Hallam


Richard is a Director of Think Employment. He’s also the Managing Director of Business Advice Direct Ltd. Founded in 2002, ‘BAD’ deliver Maths, English & IT training funded by the Skills Funding Agency under the brand in2wrk.

Richard previously held business advice and training contracts with BusinessLink and enterprise agencies. Over the years, he’s delivered small business advice and training to hundreds of startups and SME’s.

He’s been at the cutting edge of digital marketing for almost 20 years. A full member of the Institute of Direct Marketing for over a decade, In 2005, he first started promoting BAD Ltd on Google Adwords, he joined Twitter in 2009 and he’s been ‘surfing the net’ regularly since 1997. Richard has also had number of ‘proper jobs’ during his career. He worked in sales and marketing for a long time as well as running a clothing store for over four years.

He can just about water ski, snowboard and run very slowly up hills near his Peak District home. His favourite beer is Peroni and regularly watches Grimsby Town FC.

Helen Wild


Helen is also a Director of Think Employment, as well as an apprenticeship trainer and assessor. Before her role as an assessor for BAD Ltd, Helen was a Tutor delivering maths, English and ICT training.

Prior to working in education Helen has tried her hand at many things including working as a groom for a professional show jumper, dealing poker hands in Manchester casinos and along with a small team, setting up online destination sites for both Manchester and Ibiza. It was during the creation of these sites that her interest in social media was born.

Helen openly admits to being a paperwork and post-it note addict and a collector of certificates and qualifications.

Outside of work (when she isn’t spending her time ensuring her daughters turn up to their University lectures), Helen enjoys travelling, meeting animals of any variety and nights out collecting cocktails!

Andy Manifield


Andy Manifield has over 10 years experience of ‘in the trenches’ sales and marketing utilising online technologies. After working with many small and medium-sized businesses, helping them improve their online presence and ultimately their bottom line, he moved into the training sector to help the next generation of Digital Marketing Leaders.

Andy geeks out on all things marketing and coaching, throwing up websites for himself, friends and family to test ideas. He also offers free personal performance coaching to people trying to get back into work.  He’s a regular at Leeds Bikram Yoga and he used to compete regularly in mixed martial arts and judo.

Stephane Jeannin

Internal Quality Assurer

Stéphane is our internal quality assurer for apprenticeship. It’s his job to make sure that the apprentices’ work is of quality and meets the standards.

Stéphane is French. He achieved an MA in English from the University of Nantes, France, and came over in England to teach French in secondary schools. Achieving a PGCE with Leeds University, he taught French in secondary schools before moving to adult education. Stéphane has been working for Business Advice Direct for 12 years, supporting adults with Maths, English and IT.

Stéphane is now an assessor and internal verifier and has been involved with apprenticeship verification since 2014.

John Callaghan


John has over 12 years experience in online marketing working agency-side, client-side and as a consultant. He’s worked with a broad portfolio of clients in the public sector, private sector, and third sector, from small businesses to global brands.

A passionate digital marketing advocate, John loves the ever-evolving nature of the industry, where innovation and creativity reign supreme.

When not working, John, is usually experimenting with new digital marketing ideas while listening to Sam Harris and Joe Rogan podcasts.

Jack Johnson


Jack is our resident content, PR and social media expert.

After gaining a BA Honours degree in Media & Popular Culture from Leeds Metropolitan University, Jack spent a year as a feature writer before heading up the communications department of a professional football club.

He then spent two years working for the global travel website TripAdvisor in Oxford, where he managed the online profile and content marketing strategy of Holiday Lettings before returning to ‘The North’ in 2016.

Jack is a self-confessed Spotify addict and thinks that music helps him be more creative in the workplace.
