Our Functional Skills Maths course is designed to help you achieve a Level 2 qualification, which is the most widely recognised and required for many job roles and further education opportunities. However, before starting, you’ll take a short assessment to determine the right level for you. While Level 2 is the ultimate goal, you may need to complete Level 1 first to build a strong foundation of skills and confidence.

A Functional Skills Maths Level 2 qualification is the GCSE Maths pass grade equivalent qualification they’re asking for.
A Level 2 Maths qualification will improve your career options. You’ll be able to apply for jobs in careers such as; nursing, teaching, policing, the fire service and many more. You’ll also be able to apply for higher education courses, apprenticeships and training courses. It’s also a popular choice for parents home schooling their children.

Please note: you’ll need to sit your Functional Skills Maths exam under exam conditions. For remote invigilation we use video conferencing software (Zoom or Microsoft Teams).

Pass your Functional Skills Maths Level 2 course with the following three steps:
We’ll assess your maths level with a short online maths test. One of our maths tutors will explain your results over the phone. We’ll create a maths course to fit your current skill level and show you how to use our online learning.
When you’ve progressed well with your learning, you’ll sit an diagnostic and a mock Level 2 Maths test to see if you’re ready for the final test. If you pass the mock test we’ll book your Functional Skills Maths Level 2 test.
There are no entry requirements to enrol on this course. You’ll complete a maths assessment to ensure Level 2 maths is the best level for you.
Enrolments on this course start from 21st April 2025. The sooner you start the application process, the quicker we’ll be able to arrange a start date.
Functional Skills Level 2 qualifications equivalent to a GCSE pass grade (grade 4 / C or above). They are also widely accepted by employers, colleges, and universities. If you have specific course or job in mind, we recommend contacting the relevant education institution or employer to ensure they accept Functional Skills qualifications.
Yes, Functional Skills qualifications are Ofqual approved. This means that the qualification is an official, UK government approved qualification that is equivalent to a GCSE.
The Functional Skills Maths Level 2 exam is 2 hours:
You’ll be able to take the exam as soon as we’re confident you’re likely to achieve a pass grade. You’ll sit a mock test to ensure you’re ready to book a date for your final exam.
This qualification is accredited by Open Awards.
It usually takes up to 2 weeks but is often much quicker.
It can be longer if the awarding body reviews your exam marking or they’re in the process of adjusting their grade boundaries.
