Developing skills to support children and individuals with autism
This Level 2 programme equips learners with essential knowledge to work effectively with children, young people, and adults. You’ll explore positive communication methods, identify developmental stages and concerns, and gain insight into safeguarding, equality, and health and safety legislation. With a focus on Special Educational Needs (SEN), the course delves into understanding autism, person-centred approaches, and supporting positive behaviour. No classroom experience is required, and assessments are integrated into the course—no final exam stress! Upon completion, you’ll earn the NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism and the NCFE CACHE Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools and Colleges.

When Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is used in line with the PBS Framework, by well-trained staff in a person-centred way, it can (alongside other support) help some individuals to feel less anxious or distressed in certain situations.

Sensory processing, perception and cognition in autistic individuals
You’ll gain an understanding of sensory processing, perception and cognition in autistic individuals – including looking at hypersensitivity and hyposensitivity. You’ll also learn how to the support the sensory needs of autistic individuals.
Understanding the role of reflection and support for those involved in incidents of behaviour that challenges
You’ll gain an understanding of the importance of reflection following an incident of behaviour that challenges.
Supporting autistic individuals to live healthy and fulfilled lives
