What you'll be studying

The course modules provide a comprehensive foundation for working as a teaching assistant. Modules also cover essential topics such as safeguarding, child welfare, and the structure of educational institutions, ensuring you are well-prepared to support teaching and learning in a range of environments.

This unit provides an in-depth understanding of the role and responsibilities of teaching assistants, exploring
how they contribute to a positive learning environment.

This unit explores the stages of child development, the factors that influence development, and how to monitor and support individual needs. 
This unit covers safeguarding legislation and how teaching assistants play a crucial role in promoting children’s safety and wellbeing.

Focuses on developing positive, professional relationships within the school environment to foster
collaboration and effective communication.

Learn the importance of equality, diversity, and inclusion in school environments, and how teaching
assistants can support inclusive practices.

Learn how to plan and provide safe learning environments, identify risks, and respond to emergencies and health issues.

This unit introduces the concept of SEN, with a particular focus on supporting children with autism, and explores the interventions and support available.

This unit focuses on policies, procedures, and strategies for promoting positive behaviour in schools.
