This course is perfect if you want to start a career as a teaching assistant or any other support role in a school, including; school caretaker, administrator, pastoral support officer or SEN teaching assistant.
This course was created with the help of schools to help people start a rewarding career in education.
This course is 100% online learning but you must attend regular scheduled live lessons.
Entry Requirements
- Skills Bootcamps are available to people aged 19 or over, which means you'll qualify if you were born on or before 31 August 2005.
- Live in the North East? We'll verify your postcode during the application process.
- Meet residency requirements (we will help you check this).
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- This course is designed to help you achieve specific goals, such as securing a job, starting your own business, or advancing in your current role within six months of completing the Bootcamp.
What you'll be studying
The course modules provide a comprehensive foundation for working as a teaching assistant. You’ll explore effective communication and relationship-building skills, understand child development stages, and learn how to identify and address developmental concerns. Modules also cover essential topics such as safeguarding, child welfare, and the structure of educational institutions, ensuring you are well-prepared to support teaching and learning in a range of environments.

This unit provides an in-depth understanding of the role and responsibilities of teaching assistants, exploring
how they contribute to a positive learning environment.
Understand Child and Young Person Development
Safeguarding and Wellbeing
Developing Professional Relationships with Children, Young People, and Adults
Focuses on developing positive, professional relationships within the school environment to foster
collaboration and effective communication.
Promoting Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI)
Learn the importance of equality, diversity, and inclusion in school environments, and how teaching
assistants can support inclusive practices.
Supporting Children and Young People's Health and Safety
