We’re running a number of Employment Pathways workshops throughout December to help people choose their route back into work.
People in Leeds, Stockport, Hull, Grimsby and Wolverhampton will get the chance to embark on a brand new career when they enrol on our Employment Pathway training course.
That’s because everyone who takes part in the workshop will get to choose one of our eight pathways that will boost their chances of gaining employment.
The course takes just one week to complete (plus your chosen pathway) and you’ll gain knowledge and skills which will help in your day-to-day life. These will include topics such as:
- Life and Living Skills
- Money Management
- Budgeting Skills
After completing the 5-days of training, learners will get to choose one of the following Employment Pathways which are proven to help people find work:
CSCS Card/ Health & Safety Passport
If you would like to get into the construction industry, it is becoming a requirement by law to obtain the appropriate training needed to work on building sites. Not only will a CSCS card prove your ability to work in these areas, but it will also highlight your interest in the industry and boost your employment opportunities.
Sage Bookkeeping Course
This is an ideal starting point for people interested in Accounting or Finance roles within businesses. The course will help you understand the types of software used in a corporate environment and cover basic financial management reports.
Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
Hoping for a career in Catering, Hospitality or Care? Many employers look for Food Hygiene Certificates when hiring for their roles. This course will highlight the importance of hygiene in the workplace and the knowledge needed to perform your duties in a safe environment.
Asbestos Awareness Training
Some professions involve coming into contact with asbestos containing materials (ACM’s). Since The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 came into action, it is a requirement of all employees who could potentially work with AMC’s to hold an Asbestos Awareness Certificate. This training will prove your potential to employers in plumbing, welding, carpentry, electricians, roofing, scaffolding, demolition and maintenance (or even if you are self-employed!)
Provisional Driving Licence
Many employers request applicants to hold a full, clean driving licence in order to work for them. A provisional driving licence is the first step for learning how to drive either a car, moped or motorbike. Once you hold a provisional licence, it is valid for 10 years so you’ll have plenty of time to move on to the next stage.
Digital Tachograph Card
All trained long or short distance drivers require a Digital Tachograph Card to work in the UK or EU. Even if you already hold a CPC, PCV or HGV licence, it is a legal requirement that all lorries, trucks, vans or 4×4’s are fitted with a card. We can help cover the cost of your application and get you back on the road.
Driving Licence Theory Test
Passing your driving test can help your job search massively as a driving licence is one thing that employers look for when considering applicants. The theory test covers car, motorcycle and even lorries so that you can complete your practical driving test and be on the way to driving the vehicle of your choice.
In order to work with children and vulnerable adults, you must pass the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). This service allows employers to make informed recruitment decisions and prevents unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups.
After you’ve completed your training and gained your vocational qualification of choice, our in-house recruitment staff will also be able to help you find out about employment opportunities in your local area. Think Employment have links with a number of major employers and regularly recommend potential candidates for interviews.
