Leon's Journey to Becoming a HGV Driver
Starting Point
Leon was looking for a practical route into the logistics industry and enrolled in the HGV Skills Bootcamp, which was funded through our partnership with the Greater London Authority (GLA).

Leon’s practical route into the industry was our Skills Bootcamp in HGV Driving. This focused programme covered essential knowledge for theory tests and understanding HGV driving regulations, alongside safe loading procedures and fuel-efficient techniques.
The Experience
Leon found getting started “couldn’t be easier.” He loved how informative and interactive the sessions were. The Outcome
The experience certainly opened his eyes – “it made me realise that there is more to driving a Truck than I expected” – and left him feeling ready to tackle his tests without any problems and start looking for work. This learner already had a degree and 3D CAD skills, but found the door to the competitive Games Design industry challenging to open. They knew they needed that specific, hands-on experience with tools like Unreal Engine to stand out.
