Spooktacular Pumpkin Carving Competition at Think Employment

This week, Think Employment have been getting into the Halloween spirit by hosting a company-wide pumpkin carving competition!

Halloween originates from the ancient Celtic Festival of Samhain and historically would mark the end of Summer and the harvest season. It meant that the cold, dark winter was beginning and it was often believed that on the 31st of October, the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred.

Originally, people would carve vegetables such as potatoes or turnips, but it wasn’t until Irish immigrants arrived in America and discovered the pumpkin that the tradition of pumpkin carving was popularised.

Therefore, for the competition, each of our learning centres were set the task of carving a ‘Halloween Masterpiece’ to display in their centres. Also, they also added a ‘Go Green’ bonus challenge in which they had to effectively use the pumpkin waste.

Everyone got stuck in and we have produced some amazing designs that we’d love to share with you and hopefully inspire you to join in, too!

#TeamAdmin carved a double-sided pumpkin featuring our Think Bubble logo and a spooky witch.

#TeamApprentice made a ‘Pump-king’ including a crown made from pumpkin seeds as part of the Go Green element of the competition.

#TeamGrimsby carved a cute cat on their pumpkin and made soup and a mud pack with their pumpkin innards.

#TeamManagement got really creative with their fox pumpkin. He looks right at home amongst those Autumn leaves!

#TeamMarketing baked a petrifying pumpkin pie and created a necklace made from witches fingernails (actually pumpkin seeds – no witches were harmed in the process!)

#TeamSales created a spooktacular Day of the Dead inspired carving with intricate skull designs.

#TeamStockport really sunk their teeth into this one complete with a top hat and company name badge!

#TeamWolves got wrapped up in the competition with their mummy and baby pumpkins.

#TeamLeeds made a haunting display to go alongside their pumpkin. And even offered the trick or treaters some sweets!

#TeamHull baked a pumpkin pie, spiced cookies and a delicious cake topped with creepy crawlies.

Which pumpkin do you like best? Like or share your favourite designs on our social media pages.

The winner of our competition is…..

Team Sales with their Day of the Dead inspired pumpkin!

Tied second place goes to Team Admin and Team Apprentice!

Well done everyone!
