The Category C licence also known a HGV Clas 2 licence is the one that most haulage and logistics companies are looking out for on candidate CV’s. They’re the most sought after type of HGV licence when it comes to driving jobs.
Category C is the most common type of HGV vehicle. Category C drivers often do more local deliveries than larger vehicles. A category C license allows drivers to drive vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, but must not exceed 32 tonnes. Category C (or Class 2 as they are otherwise known) licences typically cover a vehicle with a cab and trailer fixed permanently together. In laymans terms, a Cat C vehicle is what we would refer to as a ‘standard lorry’ or a rigid vehicle.
