A teaching assistant course is a great way to start your career in schools. It will provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to work effectively with children and young people. The course will also give you insight into the day-to-day running of a school, and how you can support teaching staff in their roles.
Our Level 2 Teaching Assistant online course will help you prepare for school job roles such as; Classroom Assistant, School Librarian, Early Years Practitioner and Learning Support Assistant in a primary school setting.
This is a combined course with modules from our Level 2 Teaching Assistant course and Level 2 Childcare course. We’ve chosen the course combination and units to help improve your chances of getting a job at a primary school, nursery, play centre and other settings working with children.

You’ll receive two certificates when you complete the course, a Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools and Colleges certificate and a Level 2 Award in Introducing Caring for Children and Young People certificate.
This course is a knowledge-only qualification and does not require you to complete a placement.

What’s the average salary for a teaching assistant?
The starting salary for Level 1 Teaching Assistants is usually £17,842 in line with the local government pay scale. Level 2 Teaching Assistants can expect to earn between £18,000 to £20,000. Level 3 Teaching Assistants can earn up to £25,000 if they have additional specialisms or SEN responsibilities.
Do I need a placement for this course?
Our Teaching Assistant course is a knowledge-only qualification and does not require you to complete a placement or attend our learning centres as all coursework is carried out online on our easy to navigate portal.
